Eschbach (Bas-Rhin)

Eschbach is a commune with 931 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes Sauer -Pechelbronn.

Geography

The land around the village is bounded to the south by a large forest, behind the forest, 7 km southeast of the community, is Haguenau. The direct neighboring villages are Laubach and Hegeney with the hamlet backcourt.

History

Eschbach and Laubach have probably been cleared from the forest of Haguenau. But the location of the villages south of the Ebersbaches speaks, and its then belonging to the monastery Selz, as well as the structure of the streets and homesteads. In a document of 1143 Eschbach Praedium Loubach is ( Latin for " estate Loubach " ) and called, as geographical location is ( " located in the Sacred Grove " ) in sacro Nemore Situm specified.

Eschbach later belonged to the kingdom of the bailiwick of Haguenau, which meant that the town in the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 was confirmed as an imperial village. The kingdom remained villages, in contrast to the other Alsatian villages of the area, catholic, took care of the imperial bailiff 1561 used Nicolas de Bollwiller.

Attractions

Nave and choir of the church Saint -Martin was built in 1767. From 1859 to 1861, the nave was enlarged and built a bell tower. The pastorate was indeed mentioned in 1616, but the present building dates from the second half of the 18th century.
