Espinelves

Espinelves is a place in the comarca of Osona in the province of Girona of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia in the northeast of the Kingdom of Spain.

Geography

Espinelves is 752 meters high, in a wooded area. The steadily decreasing since the 1930s population was 201 in 2011 The village is connected through the provincial road GI -543 with Abúcies in the southeast and the Universltätsstadt Vic in the West.

Tourism and economy

Tourist is for Espinelves the Romanesque church of Sant Vincenç d' Espinelves with a fresco depicting the martyrdom of St Thomas of importance. The parish church dates from the 11th and 12th centuries after Christ's birth. The municipality is the starting point for walks in the wooded mountains of the environment.

Forest management is important as a main industry in Espinelves. It is beaten as a Christmas tree mainly the local conifer Abies masjoanensis.
