Esquiva Florentino

Esquiva Falcao Florentino ( born December 12, 1989 in Vitória ) is a Brazilian amateur boxer. His biggest success was winning the silver medal in the middleweight division at the Olympic Games in 2012.

He is the brother of boxer Yamaguchi Falcao.

Boxing career

He was the 2007 and 2008 Brazilian Vice- welterweight champion. He was defeated here in two finals Pedro Lima, the winner of the Pan American Games in 2007. At the Pan American Championships 2008 in Cuenca, Florentino won the bronze medal in the welterweight division. In 2009 he won in two comparative battles against the Italians Luca Melis and again won a bronze medal in the welterweight division at the Pan American Championships in Mexico City.

In 2010, he won a bronze medal in the welterweight division, at the 9th South America Games in Medellin. In the same year he was also the first Brazilian champion at middleweight. 2010/2011 he took part in the World Series of Boxing and defeated while the two American William Williams and Chris Jones. However, towards the U.S. champion Terrell Gausha he suffered a point defeat.

At the 16th World Championships 2011 in Baku, he defeated in the first preliminary round from Senegal Mamadou case clearly with 25:9, and in the second preliminary round of the Australian Rob Jankovski 15:9. In the second round he beat the Englishman Anthony Ogogo 17:12 and moved into the quarter-finals, where he defeated the Kazakhs 13:10 Donabek Suzhanov. In the semifinals, he finally succumbed to the Japanese Ryota Murata significantly with 11:24 and thus topped with a bronze medal from the World Championships from.

In 2012 he was re- Brazilian middleweight champion and participated in the Chemistry Cup in part in Halle, where he won the silver medal. He won it in the first round against the Austrian World Cup participants Arbi Chakaev 20:13 and in the quarterfinals against the Algerian Abdelmalek Olympians Rahou 14:4. By 15:14 semi-final victory against Danabek Suzhanov he reached the finals, but it lost to the German Stefan Härtel 9:15.

At the 17th World Championships in October 2013 in Almaty, he came through a bye and a points win against Vitali Bondarenko of Ukraine in the second round, where he was defeated by the Russians Artyom Chebotaryov.
