European Taekwondo Championships

The Taekwondo Championships are those of the European Taekwondo Union ( ETU) discharged continental championships in taekwondo. First time ever in the World Championships held in 1976, just a month after the founding of the ETU. Since then, they are held every two years.

Sweeps

Germany, with three sweeps frequent host of the tournament, followed by Denmark, Spain and Turkey, each with two. Eleven other countries have the title fights so far discharged once. They take place every two years, a championship was only in 2005, once held in a vice raden year.

Competitions

The first two European Championships eight weight categories for men were held. It was attended by athletes in part from the twelve countries that were involved in the founding of the ETU. In 1980, there were ten in the men's weight classes, also for the first time was also attended by women in seven different weight classes part. The still valid format with eight weight classes in women and men has been held since 1986. The classification of each class has been changed many times and always oriented towards the requirements of the World Taekwondo Federation ( WTF ).
