Éva Tófalvi
Tofalvi ( born December 4, 1978 in Miercurea Ciuc, Harghita County ) is a Romanian biathlete. It belongs to the Hungarian minority in Transylvania.
Tofalvi is a physical education teacher and lives in Miercurea Ciuc. It operates since 1992 Biathlon and belongs since 1995 to the national team of Romania. The Athlete of ASA M.CIUC is coached by Simon Martin. 1997 Tofalvi debuted with a single in Ruhpolding Biathlon World Cup and was 75th, but highlight of the year was the Junior World Championships in Forni Avoltri, where she finished sixth in singles and fourth in the sprint. In the following season they started sporadically in the World Cup, could however apart from a 29th place in the individual in Östersund still achieve good results. Nevertheless Tofalvi was allowed to begin in Nagano at the peak of the season, the 1998 Olympics. There she could reach as eleventh in the individual for the first time a prominent placement. The same place they reached then also at the Junior World Championships at this track in Jericho.
It was not until well into the second half of the season 1998/99 until Tofalvi first ran in the World Cup at a sprint in Valcartier as ninth in the top ten. Their best season was 2000/ 01 are. After already several places in the top 20 this season, they could not only achieve their best World Cup but also her best World Cup result with a sixth place in singles at the Biathlon World Championships 2001 in Pokljuka. There was also a tenth place in the mass start. At the end of the season was 34 Tofalvi the overall World Cup. After unsuccessful 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City she was able to record in Turin four years later than the 19th in the individual again a moderate success. Tofalvi could even create good results, especially in the individual, which speaks mainly for their safety as a shooter in her career. Tofalvi occurred since 2000, always out in 2005 at the European Championships, without however ever to achieve any appreciable result. At the Open Balkan Championship in Biathlon 2008 she won the title in the sprint.
The 2008/09 season started very well for the athlete. In the sprint and pursuit Tofalvi could convince with space nine and seven. The best result of her career she reached the individual in Hochfilzen in December 2008, when she, despite heavy snowfall landed in second place thanks to flawless shooting performance. As the first place winner Albina Achatowa was later found guilty of doping, it was later the first World Cup victory of the Romanian. In the further course of the season, made their progress, especially in the shooting, due to a provided training facility noticeable. At the 2009 World Championships Tofalvi again achieved a top 10 finish in the 7th place in the individual. Together with the improved shooting performance, they also proved runs driven Stamina: Tofalvi launched in all the individual races of the season and reached each time the points. At the end of the season it ranked 11 in the World Cup. In individual World Cup they closed the season as runner-up. Tofalvi took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Her best result was the 11th place in the individual.
Tofalvi also operates summer biathlon. 2003 Forni Avoltri and 2004 in Osrblie she launched at World Championships. Best results were, respectively, the pursuit race where it was in 2003 and 2004 Sixth Seventh. With the season she was ranked 10th
