Éva Tófalvi

Tofalvi ( born December 4, 1978 in Miercurea Ciuc, Harghita County ) is a Romanian biathlete. It belongs to the Hungarian minority in Transylvania.

Tofalvi is a physical education teacher and lives in Miercurea Ciuc. It operates since 1992 Biathlon and belongs since 1995 to the national team of Romania. The Athlete of ASA M.CIUC is coached by Simon Martin. 1997 Tofalvi debuted with a single in Ruhpolding Biathlon World Cup and was 75th, but highlight of the year was the Junior World Championships in Forni Avoltri, where she finished sixth in singles and fourth in the sprint. In the following season they started sporadically in the World Cup, could however apart from a 29th place in the individual in Östersund still achieve good results. Nevertheless Tofalvi was allowed to begin in Nagano at the peak of the season, the 1998 Olympics. There she could reach as eleventh in the individual for the first time a prominent placement. It was not until well into the second half of the season 1998/99 until Tofalvi first ran in the World Cup at a sprint in Valcartier as ninth in the top ten. Their best season was 2000/ 01 are. At the Open Balkan Championship in Biathlon 2008 she won the title in the sprint.

The 2008/09 season started very well for the athlete. In the sprint and pursuit Tofalvi could convince with space nine and seven. The best result of her career she reached the individual in Hochfilzen in December 2008, when she, despite heavy snowfall landed in second place thanks to flawless shooting performance. As the first place winner Albina Achatowa was later found guilty of doping, it was later the first World Cup victory of the Romanian. At the 2009 World Championships Tofalvi again achieved a top 10 finish in the 7th place in the individual. At the end of the season it ranked 11 in the World Cup. In individual World Cup they closed the season as runner-up. Tofalvi took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
