Evgeny Kurbatov

Yevgeny Vadimovich Kurbatov (in Russian Евгений Вадимович Курбатов; born 18 May 1988 in Sverdlovsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since November 2013.

Career

Yevgeny Kurbatov began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the HK Avangard Omsk, for the second team, he was active from 2005 to 2007 in the third-class Perwaja league. In the season 2006/ 07 the defender was also his debut for Awangards professional team in the Super League, in which he remained no points in 15 games in his rookie year and received four penalty minutes. In the following two seasons the junior national team had a regular place at Avangard Omsk, with which he participated in the 2008 /09 season in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established.

After Kurbatov had started the season 2009/10 Awangards junior team in the multinational junior league MHL, he played from November 2009 to January 2010 in four games for Gasowik Tyumen from the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league before the KHL club HK he CSKA Moscow has been committed for which he stood until end of season in nine games on the ice, where he gave two assists.

At the beginning of the 2012/13 season Kurbatov first went for the partner team of CSKA, the THK Tver, on the ice, before moving to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg. In June 2013, he returned in exchange for two voting rights for the KHL Junior Draft 2014 back to CSKA.

Internationally

For Russia Kurbatov took part in the U20 World Youth Championship 2008, where he won the bronze medal with his team. During the tournament he scored two goals in seven games and prepared three more hits before. He was the defender with the most goals of the tournament and was elected to the three best players in the Russian team. Previously, he was also in the squad of the Russian national junior team at the Super Series 2007.
