Faiyum Governorate

Al - Fayyum (Arabic محافظة الفيوم Muhafazat al - Fayyūm, DMG Muhafazat al - Fayyūm, also Faiyum ) is a governorate in Egypt with 2,512,792 inhabitants and is located in Middle Egypt, on the eastern edge of the Libyan desert, 90 km southwest of Cairo.

It is bordered to the west and to the north by the province al - Giza and the east and south of the Beni Suef Governorate. The administrative center is Madinat al - Fayyum.

For governorate includes the Wādī al - Hitan, since 2005 establishment of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage.
