Farrell Dobbs

Farrell Dobbs ( born July 25, 1907 in Queen City, Schuyler County, Missouri, † 31 October 1983) was an American trade unionist, politician and four-time presidential candidate of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP ), a Trotskyist party in the United States.

His father was a laborer in coal mines, so that the young Dobbs realized early on how hard some people have to work for their reward. In 1925, he finished with the North High School and his school career, during this time Dobbs was a conservative Republican supporters and their presidential candidate Herbert Hoover.

Dobbs was in the years 1948, 1952, 1956 and 1960 presidential candidate of the SWP, but could never achieve nominal values ​​success. He saw himself as a student of Leon Trotsky, with whom he was in correspondence with them and James P. Cannon.
