Fate is a Danish AOR and hard rock band. It was ( at Fate with only one "n": Sherman) in 1984 by ex- Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Sherman founded in Copenhagen. After his departure (1988 ) existed under the direction of Peter Steincke initially to 1993 continue to revive in 2006 as the only original member with Steincke again.

Band History

The guitarist Hank Sherman, who had collected from 1978 to 1981 with Brats and in between as a temp at Danger Zone first band experience was in 1981 involved with Brats colleagues at the foundation of Mercyful Fate. With it came the first Mercyful Fate EP and the albums Melissa and Do not Break the Oath. He felt rejected by the satanic / occult occurrence of the singer King Diamond and contributed in 1984 in protest at the beach stage clothes. In April 1985, Mercyful Fate broke.

Sherman turned to the Copenhagen formation Maxim, who was at that time just without guitarist. The hard rockers sensed her big chance and promoted with the name of their entrant and the reference to Mercyful Fate, by henceforth operated under the name " Fate". Sherman was the musical reorientation 1988 again; the others went on as Fate. Sherman participated in 1992 at the Reunion Mercyful Fate and worked until 1999, seven publications. In 2004, he started from scratch with the band Force Of Evil, along with Michael Denner, who - except for Fate - from the beginning was his musical companion.

The line up of the band consisted of guitarist in 1984, Hank Sherman (ie René Krolmark born July 11, 1958), bassist / keyboardist Pete Steiner (ie Peter Steincke, born December 16, 1959), drummer Bob Lance ( Bjarne T. Holm ie, born May 15, 1960) and singer Jeff " Lox " Limbo (ie Jens Meinert ).

Ago to Black Metal War Mercyful Fate assign both the habit and the singing style shrill and the textual and musical orientation, embodied Fate traditional American Hard Rock and AOR commercial. In their three- track demo of the record company EMI Denmark bite, not least because Europe was just thick in the business. The debut album was released in 1985 and was simply called Fate.

In April 1986, their second record was released under the title A Matter Of Attitude, which is considered a classic in the AOR commercial area, which is why it was re-released in 2004, again as a re-issue. Striking addition to the hard rock - typical boy -meets -girl theme was also an associated sense of humor, as in the single release Will not Stop, a caricature of the youth cult in the pop scene. In the following Tournée the keyboard parts were taken over by Floyd Lafayette.

Before November 14, 1988, the third album Cruisin ' For A Bruisin ' appeared, Sherman had lost interest: Neither the provocative style of Heavy Metal Mercyful Fate, nor the adjusted, soft rock of Fate found his popularity, especially since the success of his King Diamond did not remain hidden and the desire kindled on Harder. And since he was not the head of Fate, he had again a new beginning, but this time as a band leader, from Zoser Mez. Was recorded the album in the occupation Pete Steiner, Bob Lance, The Mysterious Mr. Moth (ie Jacob Moth, born 1967), Flemming Rothaus and Jeff " Lox " Limbo. First Rothaus was to hit that one, spoke during production due to its outer Images on the street, because you thought he was a musician. He turned out to be a drummer, was willing to upgrade to the keyboards by Steiner and brought the young guitarist in the band Moth.

Singer Jeff Limbo displeased the other band musicians visibly, as he did not renounce David -Lee -Roth -like airs and graces. Limbo Jeff left the band during a support Tournée of Fate for the exceptional Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. Then also saw Moth and Rothaus no more perspectives and acknowledged their service.

Less poses and glamor, but real metal Roots should have the next album, which thanks to the new frontman Per Henriksen (after name change Per Johansson ) and joined in March 1989 with guitarist Mattias Eklundh ( ex- Frozen Eyes) succeeded. Sometimes the type of blind Canadian Jeff Healey sitting on a chair, edited the Gothenburg Eklundh (* October 6, 1969 ) the lying horizontally on his thighs electric guitar. For him, Fate was the springboard for your own career. He is today considered a virtuoso in his field, in which it, however, teeming with competition, which is why his name is not as common as for example that of Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai or Joe Satriani. Scratch'n Sniff appeared in 1990. The CD title was not immediately recognizable Schmunzel component, because it bears the name of children's books with scratch - odor fields. Not intended, however, was the similarity to the otherwise quite similar Swedish band Treat Scratch And Bite had on the market. The artists' names were abandoned; even the band's name was up for consideration.

It was theirs, alone and with the country men Pretty Maids. In Germany they opened for Axxis. Only current material was presented, because it should be a reckoning with the past Limbo first, second, had invested in the new image, the record company and thirdly as a support were only forty minutes of playing time.

Shortly thereafter went Eklundh and was replaced by the Copenhagen talent Sören Hoff. The preparations for the new album stalled and gigs had to be canceled due to financial considerations. The 1993 split was inevitable.

Holm aka Bob Lance took over in 1994 Mercyful Fate the drums and played at the Hank Sherman's side, the albums Into The Unknown, Dead Again and 9 with a. Again, under the name Bjarne Holm, he tried in 1999 with Sherman in the project Virus 7, which was adjusted according to an article published in 2000 album. 2004 a Sherman and Holm together with Denner as Force Of Evil again in appearance.

In the same year Fate received an invitation to Deep Impact Festival in Germany. Steincke and Johannsson from the last CD line-up plus the last two backup singers Hoff plus musician named Rasmus Duedahl (dr ) and Nicklas Burmann (key) took up the challenge. The gig led to the re-release of old Fate albums. And this in turn to ask if there was the group again.

A regular drummer was sought and found in Mikael Kvist, who had won his spurs in the Swedish progressive metal band Elsesphere. In winter 2005/2006 the album V was recorded. You grabbed it back to the producer Tommy Hansen, who was responsible for Scratch'n already Sniff, but also for outputs of the German power metal band Helloween and Pretty Maids. It was released in 2006 instead of -. , As announced - already put forward in 2007 a successor, was published in 2010 with new singer Dagfinn Joensen a best-of compilation.
