Faulquemont

Faulquemont ( German Falkenberg, Lorraine Folk Burch ) is a commune with 5492 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community Faulquemont located on the German Nied, ten kilometers south-west of Saint- Avold and about 33 kilometers east of Metz. In addition to the courts Bonhouse ( Bohnhaus ) and Herrenwald heard since 1 May 1973, the south to Chémery -lès- Faulquemont ( Schemmerich ) to Faulquemont.

History

The town was the first time in 1210, then in 1238 mentioned as Falconis mons as Faukemont. In the Thirty Years' War, he was so devastated that in 1650 only ten residents were left. It was not until 1683 they began seriously with the reconstruction and resettlement of Faulquemont.

Since 1766 Faulquemont belongs to France. 1871-1918 it was again temporarily to the German Reich.
