FC Seoul

FC Seoul is a football franchise from Seoul, South Korea. Currently playing the franchise in the K League Classic, the top division of South Korea.

History

The franchise was founded in 1983 and took off in 1984 with the support of the LG Group under the name of Lucky- Goldstar Hwangso at the K- League. After the first season was patchy and still one seventh was only introduced in 1985 Piyapong Piew -on the club for the first championship title when he was top scorer was passing.

1990 we moved into the renovated Seoul Dongdaemun Stadium and celebrated there the same year the second success in the South Korean Championships. To show his affiliation with the LG Group, in 1991 renamed as LG Cheetahs.

To do more to root the league in different regions of South Korea, the franchises were spread all over the country. Therefore, the club was forced to leave Seoul and move to Anyang, where he became Anyang LG Cheetahs as now.

With the strong playing Choi Yong -soo and Lee Young- pyo young players succeeded in 2000, the third title in South Korea. Since they had built large stadiums for the 2002 World Cup, it now came to a renewed move movement in the K -League: Since the association wanted to avoid financial losses from the maintenance of large stadiums, he supported the move of the larger, successful clubs in the individual World Cup cities and thus the franchise returned to Seoul to henceforth play its home matches at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Then it was renamed FC Seoul. 2004 joined the club of the LG Group in the possession of the GS Group, which was created from a split of the LG Group. FC Seoul is one of the financially strongest teams of South Korea.

Stadium

The franchise plays its home matches at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. It was built for the World Cup in 2002 and has a capacity of 66 806 spectators.
