FC Suðuroy

FC Suðuroy, an association of VB Vágur and SÍ Sumba, is a Faroese football club based in Vágur on the island Suðuroy.

History

1994 occupied VB Vágur first place in the second division and subsequently merged with the fifth-placed the second division, SÍ Sumba Sumba to / VB but already in the following year, the partners parted again. In 2005, the two clubs as VB / Sumba united again, but stood by an eighth place in 2006, the descent in the following year as a Table to book.

The end of 2007, there were considerations to unite the teams of the island Suðuroy. While the members of TB Tvøroyri voted against, the members of Royn Hvalba opted for this and were since November 2007 also part of this merger. 2009, however, they took back independently on the game mode in 3 Deild part.

2009 was once again the rise in the Vodafonedeildin (now Effodeildin ). Finally renamed to FC Suðuroy was completed on 1 January 2010. In the same year the team missed in the premier league relegation by one point and then rose from the first Deild. After the convincing win in this class with only one defeat the team in 2012 played back in the top division, had this but again after only one year as last place again leave.

Women's Soccer

The women's team FC Suðuroy played twice as Sumba / VB or VB / Sumba in the first Deild, also was the team's 1995 Cup final and defeated this B36 Tórshavn 1-2. 2009 was just missed in the second Deild in second place with three points behind the rise. By adding in the first division in 2012 was enough for a fourth place in the preseason but the rise times. In the top flight but managed only one draw to the last games, the team also did not occur, and retired after the season back in the second division.
