Félix Guattari

Pierre- Félix Guattari ( born April 30, 1930 in Villeneuve- les -Sablons; † August 29, 1992 in Paris) was a French psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.

Curriculum vitae

Guattari grew under relatively secure conditions in a working class suburb of Paris, was influenced early on by the ideas of institutional pedagogy and elected in 1950 to the rapidly evolving psychiatry as his specialty. During this time he was heavily influenced by the work of Jacques Lacan, whose analysand he was until 1960, although he met his theoretical elaborations with a certain distance. The numerous political activities and commitments, of which the 50s and 60s were in 1965 resulted in the establishment of the FGERI ( Fédération des groupes d' Study and Research institutional ) and the journal Recherches, and active participation in the May events of 1968 ( Daniel Cohn- Bendit, Jean -Jacques Lebel, Julian Beck and others met from March 1968 regularly on the premises of FGERI ). In the context of this revolutionary processes he learned at the University of Vincennes Gilles Deleuze know: For both a decisive encounter. Four books famously walked out of the collaboration with Deleuze:

  • Anti-Oedipus (1972, Germany 1974)
  • Kafka. Towards a Minor Literature (1975, German 1976)
  • A Thousand Plateaus (1980, Germany 1992)
  • What is Philosophy (1991, Germany 1996)

Also with Deleuze 1987, he founded the magazine chimères, which, as already the Recherches, in addition to the philosophy and psychiatry also mathematics, anthropology, psychoanalysis, architecture, education and other topics opened.

Subjectivity and anti- psychiatric movement

The great theme of Félix Guattari - and the theoretical background for the important role he played in the anti - psychiatric movement - was the question of subjectivity: " How can it produce to take for themselves, enrich and reinvent constantly, and in a manner that can be compatible with the make change in nascent values universes? How can you work on his liberation, that is, on its re- Singularisation? All disciplines must combine their creativity to heal the wounds of barbarism ... '. Starting point for answering these questions, which mainly includes Guattari wrote alone, the last two books are devoted (see below), is the basic thesis of the Anti-Oedipus, namely that the delirium and madness "the unconscious incorporation of a socio-historical field " are. Your methodical bases are the concept of the dream machine and the technique of schizoanalysis.

Oekosophie

How about Arne Næss and Guattari coined a meaning for the term Oekosophie. A suggestion for Guattari was the concept of Ecology of Mind by Gregory Bateson. After Guattari is in Oekosophie less about a particular philosophy as a field of practice. Oekosophie called after an ecologically enlightened action that takes into account the social sphere in the sense of the Marxist paradigm of social revolution.

According to Guattari, the traditional environmental protection of the complexity of human-nature relations (see also social relations to nature ) does not do justice. In particular, the duality of cultural (human) and natural ( non-human ) will keep systems. Oekosophie put the same answer a monistic and pluralistic approach. The ecology examine the close links of complex phenomena including relations between human subjectivity, environmental and social relations. In later works, he stressed Gilles Deleuze following heterogeneity and difference from unity and holism.
