History

Fenerbahçe was founded in 1907 in Kadıköy / Istanbul. The founding took place in the Besbiyikstraße 3 ( Besbiyik Sokagi 3) Moda Kadıköy district in place on the ground floor of a house. Founders were Nurizade Ziya Songülen, Ayetullah and Necip Okaner. They founded the club secretly, since Sultan Abdul Hamit II had prohibited the football game and the foundation of football clubs. After the first meeting of the founders Nurizade Ziya is elected as the first president Songülen while Ayetullah Okaner Secretary-General and Captain-General is Necip Okaner.

1908 there was a change in the law, had to be registered by the clubs. Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü was the first club to to fulfill that obligation. The first football team was, inter alia, from Asaf, Ziya Hasan, Sami, Ayetullah, Mazhar, Necip Fethi, Galip, Huseyin, Hasan and Nevzat. The athletes of the first hour grew in 1909 in the Istanbul league and won 1912/13, their first championship without a single defeat.

Fenerbahçe entertained the Turkish fans also middle of the war ( 1914-1921 ). They played against teams selection of military occupation of Istanbul from England and France. They contested 68 games, won them 60 games, won four draws and lost only four games. Fenerbahçe played 17 times against the French squad, winning all 17 games.

Emblem

The first emblem of the association is the lighthouse ( = Fener ), standing on the cape Fenerbahçe ( Bahçe = garden). The first colors of the club are the colors of daffodils, white and yellow, scattered around the Fenerbahçe peninsula.

The emblem and colors were changed in 1910, as the badge of Topuz Hikmet redesigned and the colors were changed to yellow and navy. The Fenerbahçe emblem was designed by Topuz Hikmet, a football player this time, and was made by Tevfik Haccar, a stonemason from London. The emblem consists of five colors: the white part in ring form in which the word ' Fenerbahçe Spor Kulubu 1907 ' stands, represents purity and open-heartedness, the red stands for love and the Zugegehörigkeit on Turkey, Yellow symbolizes admiration and envy, while Marine stands for the nobility, the standing oak leaf symbolizes the strength and power of Fenerbahçe, and the green indicates that the success of Fenerbahçe will be eternal.

" After changing the club colors of yellow and white to yellow and navy, it was a challenge to create a new emblem with the new colors. First, I brought the colors of our national flag, red and white, together. Then I drew a heart shape over the red zone. I filled the heart shape with navy and yellow before I also placed an oak leaf. The outermost white ring served as a field for club name and field. The other leaders were satisfied with the design, and the new emblem was completed by Tevfik Haccar, who was at that time in Germany. The emblem has graphically - had introduced the new alphabet even after Atatürk - not changed, only the lettering appears since in Latin characters ".
