The Festenbach (also moss creek ) is an above- Bavarian mountain stream, which flows into the Mangfall.

Course

The sources of hard Bach lie in the Tegernsee Mountains on the northern slope of the ridge between the Isar valley nettle disc and the Tegernsee to about 1180 meters above sea level. N.N. The headwaters is also called Festenbachlüß. At 947 meters above sea level. N.N. is located on the Festenbach the nickel -Alm. Even before the stream reaches Marie Stone, lie to the left of the creek bed a landfill and the sewage treatment plant Marie Stone. The solid stream runs through the village Marie Stone and in the further course between George Ried and the settlement Steinbergstraße. After he crossed the state road in 2365, the river continues along farmland direction Moosrain. Before Moosrain the moss creek since 2009 flows through a retention basin with approximately 700,000 m³ capacity. In Moosrain the Bach querrt the federal highway 318 and then continues along grassland through the district of Gmund Festenbach. Here ends the Dürnbach in the Festenbach before it flows into the Mangfalltal. The Bach Festival opens at Thalmühl in the Mangfall. The Festenbach has several small tributaries.

Obstruction

The Festenbach is partially straightened and corrected. Among others, a retention basin was built before Moosrain in 2009, which so far cost 1.6 million euros. Additional expansions are planned in the area Moosrain.
