Feule

Feule is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Feule is located on 492 m, 5 km south-west of Pont -de- Roide and approximately 19 km south-southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, at the southern foot of the Lomont on a terrace overlooking the valley of Barbèche.

The area of ​​3.76 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the grounds of Feule terrace which is on average 500 m. It falls to the south steeply to deep valley of Barbèche ( left tributary of the Doubs ) from. The steep valley slopes are traversed in different places of rock bands. Part of the Barbèche forms the southern boundary of the municipality and partly also includes the southern side of the valley (in the region of Grand Montvallon ) to Feule. To the north, the municipality's area covers over a steep, wooded slope up to the ridge of Lomont in the area of ​​Mont Solemont, at the 813 m, the highest elevation of Feule is achieved. This ridge forms in geological- tectonic ways a anticline of the Jura Mountains and is oriented in a west-east direction. To the east of the ridge with different Felskreten and projections falls to Taldurchbruch of the Doubs, where the area is not reaching down to the river.

Neighboring communities of Feule are Neuchâtel- Urtière in the north, Villars- sous- Dampjoux in the east, and Dampjoux Les Terres de Chaux in the south and Solemont in the West.

Population

With 182 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Feule one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 70 and 100 people, a significant population growth was recorded in the 1970s. Since then, the population has declined slightly again.

Economy and infrastructure

Feule was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village.
