Villars -sous- Dampjoux is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Villars -sous- Dampjoux is located on 357 m, 4 km south of Pont -de- Roide and about 18 km south of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a valley widening of the Doubs at the mouth of Barbèche, at the upper entrance to the klusartigen breakthrough of the Doubs by Lomont.

History

The municipal area of Villars -sous- Dampjoux was settled very early. In the Grotte de Rochedane remains of tools and teeth were discovered during archaeological excavations.
