Filemon Vela, Jr.

Filemon Bartolome Vela Jr. ( born February 13, 1963 in Harlingen, Texas) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Filemon Vela attended St. Joseph 's Academy in Brownsville and then studied at Georgetown University in Washington DC After a subsequent law studies at the University of Texas at Austin and his 1987 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. He also proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Vela was elected in the newly refurbished 34th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he took up his new mandate on January 3, 2013. In the election he reached 62 percent of the vote. In his counter candidate Jessica Bradshaw accounted for 36 percent.
