Ben H. Guill

Ben Hugh Guill ( born September 8, 1909 in Smyrna, Tennessee, † January 15, 1994 in Pampa, Texas ) was an American politician. In the years 1950 and 1951, he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ben Guill visited until 1933, the West Texas State College in Canyon. He then worked as a teacher and private businessman. During the Second World War he served between 1942 and 1945 in the U.S. Navy. After that he worked in the real estate industry. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. Following the resignation of Mr Eugene Worley Guill was in the due election for the 18 seats of Texas as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on May 6, 1950. Since he has not been confirmed at the regular congressional elections of 1950, he could only finish the current term in Congress until January 3, 1951.

In July 1952, Guill delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago, was nominated to the General Dwight D. Eisenhower as a presidential candidate. Between 1953 and 1955 he worked for the Federal Post Office Department in Washington. After that, he was until 1959 a member of the Federal Maritime Board, which was under the Ministry of Commerce. Otherwise, he worked as a consultant. Ben Guill died on January 15, 1994 in Pampa, where he was also buried.
