Filippo Baldinucci

Filippo Baldinucci (* June 3, 1625 in Florence, † January 10, 1696 ) was an Italian painter, art theorist and biographer, primarily of Italian artists. His main work set the Notizie de ' professori del disegno da Cimabue in qua represents that appeared 1681-1728 in print. He is also the author of the Vocabolario Toscano dell'Arte del disegno, a lexical overview of the vocabulary of the artist, the Baldinucci Accademia della Crusca on behalf of the published in 1681.

Life

Filippo Baldinucci comes from an old Florentine family, his parents were the businessman Giovanni Baldinucci and Caterina da Valle. An artistic training was the young Filippo first in the workshop of the sculptor Jacopo Maria Foggini and painter Matteo Rosselli. Besides his work as a portraitist, he quickly gained a reputation as an exceptional connoisseur and was employed in that capacity by Grand Duke Ferdinando II de ' Medici and commissioned, among others, with longer missions to Mantua and in other places of Lombardy.
