Filosa

Chlorarachnion reptans

The Filosa, also referred to as core - Cercozoen, are a large group of protists within the tribe Cercozoa.

Features

The Filosa are morphologically very diverse. Among them are naked or shelled amoebas with threadlike pseudopodia and tubular mitochondrial cristae; Zooflagellaten with two flagella; but also photosynthetically active algae. Often they have Extrusomen, usually in the form of simple, round Kinetozysten, rarely elongated similar to Trichozysten.

System

The core Cercozoa that Filosa, appear in most works as a monophyletic group. The most representative, with the exception of some Chlorarachniophyta and flagellates species, have an insertion of two amino acids at the monomer-monomer compound of the polyubiquitin gene. The scope of the Filosa has changed continuously in recent years, Pawlowski counted 2008, the following groups of them:

A more detailed classification is the requirement imposed by Cavalier- Smith is:

  • About class Reticulofilosa class Chlorarachnea order Chlorarachnida
  • Order Spongomonadida e.g. Spongomonas, Rhipododendron
  • Order Metro Mona Dida Family Metro Mona Didae Metro Monas
  • Order Cercomonadida Family Cercomonadidae
  • Family Heteromitidae
  • Order Tectofilosida, with for example Family Pseudodifflugiidae, for example, with Cryptodifflugia
  • Thaumatomonadida
  • Euglyphida
  • Order Metopiida Family Metopiidae Metopion

Within the Filosa there are a large number of groups, which are known only from DNA samples, and the environment have not yet been described.
