Similar to the parliamentary elections in the spring of 2011, the base Finns were once again reap the greatest gains, albeit not to the same extent as one and a half years earlier. They were also only the fourth fundamental force behind the Coalition Party, the Social Democrats and the center. The three parties mentioned only lost compared to 2008 from 1.4 to 1.7 percentage points, the other major parties except the base Finns lost easily, the Swedish People's Party stagnated.

In absolute terms, the Centre Party won the most seats in the municipal and city councils, due to the domination of the country and the different relations of representation in the city and in the country.
