Fiona McLeod

Fiona McLeod ( born 1957 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

McLeod visited the Bearsden Academy and then studied at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde. She earned this master's degrees in medieval history and new, as well as a diploma in Library Science. Between 1983 and 1998 she was employed at various academic libraries. McLeod is married and the mother of a son. She lives in Westerton.

Political career

In 1974, McLeod joined the SNP. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, McLeod applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Strathkelvin and Bearsden, but was defeated by Labour candidate Sam Galbraith clearly and thus missed the direct mandate of the constituency. Since McLeod was also placed on the fourth rank of the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region West of Scotland, she received one of the four list seats for the SNP in this election region and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament.
