Fish Thal is a municipality in the district of the Canton of Zurich Hinwil in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality Fischenthal the villages Gibswil and bridge are in Tösstal. The municipality covers 30.25 km ². The land use is 32% agriculture, 63 % forest, 2% and 2% of traffic settlements. The highest point of the municipality is the Schnebelhorn with 1 293 m, the deepest point of the Lenzen with 686 m. Neighbouring communities are: Mosnang, gold rings SG, Wald ZH, Hinwil, Bäretswil, Bauma and Sternberg ZH. The community thus has a direct border with the Canton of St. Gallen.

History

The oldest document in which the name " Fiskinestal " is mentioned, dates from the 9th century. At that time, possessions were given to the monastery of St. Gall in fish valley. In the 13th century fish valley was under Habsburg rule. 1301 pledged the Habsburgs, the Bailiwick of fish Thal. After several changes of ownership it arrived in 1425, finally in possession of the city of Zurich. From 1542 to fish valley was part of the rule Grüningen. 1798 was assigned to the district woods, in 1803 the district of Uster, then the upper office Grüningen and finally in 1831 the District Hinwil. An upheaval experienced the area at the time of cottage industries in the 18th and early 19th century.

Religion

December 31, 2011 consisted of 55.6 percent of the population of the Evangelical Reformed Church, and 18.6 percent of the Roman Catholic Church.

The community fish valley and the villages Gibswil and bridge are each with its own breakpoint at the Zurich S-Bahn line S 26 with the Winterthur HB - tethered Ruti ZH, which is operated by the Thurbo - Bauma.
