FK Dukla Banská Bystrica

The FK Dukla Banská Bystrica is a Slovak sports and football club based in Banská Bystrica (German Neusohl ). Dukla is an army club and one of the oldest and strongest football clubs in Slovakia.

History

The first football club was founded in 1904 in Banska Bystrica ( Besztercebányai Sports Club ). The Army club was opened up in the city in 1965. Anton Ondruš, a former player of Dukla, was the captain of the victorious Czechoslovak national team during Euro 1976 in Yugoslavia. It was not only the biggest day for football in Czechoslovakia, but also in particular for football in Slovakia; in the final also played nine Slovaks in the team that has defeated the Germans.
