Flag of Baden-Württemberg

The state of Baden -Württemberg has several flags, a flag and a national coat of arms in two variants, the use of the Service flags subject to restrictions.

The flag

The announced on November 11, 1953 Constitution of the State of Baden- Württemberg, in its Article 24, paragraph 1:

Besides, black represents the areas of Württemberg and Hohenzollern, gold contrast bathing. The national colors were not as derived from the state coat of arms, but set before that. With the national colors, the flag was also set, namely as stripes flag in exactly these colors. The use of the national flag anyone is free.

The country's official flags

The country's official flags are regulated by the Decree of the Government on the country's leadership coat of arms of 2 August 1954. Paragraph 9 states that:

Since there is a large and a small coat of arms (see coat of arms of Baden-Württemberg ), there are also two variants of the State service flag. The crest leading bodies are listed in paragraph 1 of that Regulation.

The use of the national coat of arms is therefore exclusively reserved to the authorized bodies. The unauthorized use of State service flag is an administrative offense (paragraph 124 in the Code of Administrative Offences of 24 May 1968).

Flagging adoption

The flagging of public buildings in Baden- Württemberg is governed by the notice of the State Ministry of the flagging of buildings on 22 October 1991. Accordingly, the flagging days depend on the relevant federal decree, in addition, to flag in state elections.

Flagging in practice

As is usual in the German inland countries the national flag is usually performed in a vertical form, ie as a banner, hanging flag or similar uses as Hissflagge are rare.

The description of the national colors of black and gold in practice leads to the fact that the lower strip appears similar to the the federal flag in a dark shade of yellow. In principle, gold and yellow are the same, however, so that even a normal yellow color would be allowed.
