Flávio Saretta

Flávio Saretta Filho ( born June 28, 1980 in Americana ) is a former Brazilian tennis player.

Life and career

Saretta that a professional career began in 1998, was initially successful on the ATP Challenger Tour. In individual, he won seven titles and four more in the doubles. His biggest success on the World Poker Tour, he celebrated 2004 Umag when he won the doubles competition with Jose Acasuso. A similar success was denied him in singles.

At Grand Slam tournaments, the best results were a knockout collection in a single in 2003 at the French Open and the quarter-finals of the doubles competition at the 2004 Australian Open. In the world rankings were his best positions Rank 44 in a single 15 September 2003 and rank 78 in a double 26 July 2004.

Saretta took 2004 to the Summer Olympic Games in Athens in part. In the individual he was defeated in the opening round to the set at position two American Andy Roddick. In doubles, he took up with André Sá. They defeated the Spaniard Carlos Moya and Rafael Nadal in the first round, but failed in the connection against Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett from Zimbabwe.

Between 2002 and 2007 Saretta was nominated for a total of ten matches for the Brazilian Davis Cup team. Out of 14 games in a single won nine, with his only double game he was victorious, together with André Sá.

In 2009 Saretta announced his retirement from professional tennis. The reason he stated that he was tired of fighting the persistent pain in his body.
