Florian Gengel

Florian Gengel (* June 27, 1834 in Chur Walden; † February 4, 1905 in Chur reformed, hometown entitled in Chur Walden ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP), editor, printing entrepreneur and hotelier.

Life

Florian Gengel came on June 27, 1834 in Chur Walden, the son of Lieutenant-Colonel, lawyer and politician Cyprian Gengel to the world. After visiting the Canton School Chur Gengel took the studies of rights, economics and literature in Zurich, Tübingen and Munich. As a result, Florian Gengel worked as a lawyer in Chur. He also worked as an editor at "liberals Alps messengers " and from 1861 to 1867 at the " Bund" in Bern.

In 1868 he founded the liberal newspaper " The Free Rhätier ". Florian Gengel was the owner of printers in Chur and St. Moritz and the hotel " Courtyard St. Moritz". He was married to Anna, daughter of Friedrich Giger Gontenschwil. Florian Gengel died on February 4, 1905 at the age of 70 years in Chur.

Political career

The liberal politicians acted first as Chur City Council as well as an agent. In the years 1869-1883, 1885-1889 and 1891-1893, he was represented in the Grisons cantonal parliament.
