Francis Lai

Francis Lai ( born April 26, 1932 in Nice ) is a French composer, accordionist and Oscar winners for film music.

Life

He became known in the 1950s as congenial accompanist of Édith Piaf. For them, as well as Juliette Greco, Petula Clark, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Hallyday, Tom Jones, Nana Mouskouri, Mireille Mathieu and Frank Sinatra, he wrote many songs.

He gained worldwide fame with his film music for A Man and a Woman (1966 ), Love Story (1970) and Bilitis. For the theme song to Love Story, which sold six million copies, he received the 1970 Oscar for best film music. With director Claude Lelouch, he worked by a man and a woman together several times, so can also be for the kidnappers greet (L' aventure c'est l' aventure, 1971), A touch of tenderness (Si c'était à refaire, 1976), alone for two (À nous deux, 1979) or even for every man shall receive his reward ...
