Franck Sauzée

Franck Sauzée ( born October 28, 1965 in Aubenas ) is a former French footballer. The midfielder was 1983-2002 active in several clubs in France, Italy and Scotland.

Career

Association

Sauzées began his career in 1983 at the then second division side FC Sochaux French, where he also previously played in the youth section of the club. For five years he held the loyalty club, before moving to Marseille in the summer of 1988. He immediately became French champion. Two more league titles in 1990 and 1992 should follow. In the season 1990/91 Sauzée was loaned out to AS Monaco. His greatest success with Olympique he could reach 1993, when the UEFA Champions League was won in Munich's Olympic Stadium. On 26 May 1993, the AC Milan was beaten by a goal by Basile Boli 1-0 in the final. Sauzée was the whole 90 minutes on the court. Although in 1993 the title was defended in France, he decided to follow- season harbor city dwellers to turn their backs. There he developed after some time Kopfm and captain of the team. Under his leadership, the team established in the Scottish League in 2001 and could reach the final of the Scottish Cup. There one was beaten 0-3 Rangers. In the same year was the 3rd place in the highest league in Scotland are achieved and the team qualified for their UEFA Cup starting place. National

Sauzée went through several age groups of the French national teams. To his great success at the country level, the first and only victory in the U-21 European Championship with France is in 1988. In the final against the Greek selection he contributed two goals to make it 3-0, and thus paved the way to triumph.

For the national team of France, he was in 39 games on the ball, where it has gained nine goals. For the European Football Championship in Sweden in 1992 he was in the squad of Les Bleus.

After the football

After his former coach at Hibernian Edinburgh, Alex McLeish, joined the Rangers in December 2001, was Sauzée player-manager of Hibs. His time, however, was not successful, so he had to leave with only one won game of the place after 16 games. In March 2002, he was replaced by Bobby Williamson.

Today he works as a football expert for the French television channel Canal .
