Franco Carraro

Franco Carraro ( born December 6, 1939 in Padua ) is an Italian sports official and politician ( PSI). It came into existence in particular in Italian football and as an IOC member.

Career

Carraro appeared in the late 1950s as an athlete for the first time nationally in appearance, when he won the European title in waterskiing. He soon became involved in this sport on official level and was responsible for the Federazione Italiana Sci Nautico, the Italian Water Ski Federation, works. In 1967 he moved after the death of his father Luigi Carraro on as his successor as president of AC Milan. During his tenure, winning the European Champions Cup in 1968/69 under coach Nereo Rocco fell by a 4-1 final win against Ajax Amsterdam, which was followed by the World Cup win against the Argentinean representative Estudiantes de La Plata.

By 1987, he stood in front of the National Olympic Committee of Italy and from 1982 was a member of the IOC. In 1986 he moved also on the organizing committee for the 1990 World Cup.

In 1987 he Carraro the reputation of the country's politics and was Prime Minister Giovanni Goria Tourism Minister. Carraro remained untouched until 2009 at the UEFA in office. After the Italian application failed to host the 2012 European Championship, he was in his home country in the criticism.
