Frank Hinman Waskey

Frank Hinman Waskey ( born April 20, 1875 in Lake City, Wabasha County, Minnesota, † January 18, 1964 in Oakville, Washington ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the first delegate to the Alaska Territory in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Frank Waskey attended the public schools of his home in Minnesota and moved in 1898 during the Klondike gold rush to Nome in Alaska. There he was director of a mining company, a bank director and head of a publishing house.

Waskey became a member of the Democratic Party. Between August 14, 1906 to March 3, 1907, he acted as first delegate the Alaska Territory in the U.S. House of Representatives. In a bid again he refused. After that, he prospected for mineral resources and traded with furs. He also sold curiosities. In 1956 he moved to Oakville in Washington state, where he died in 1964.
