František Straka

František Straka ( born May 28, 1958 in České Budějovice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach.

Playing career

Straka began playing football at the age of eight years at Dynamo České Budějovice. His military service, he graduated in Tachov, then changed the defender to Sparta Prague.

After 223 first division matches for Sparta Straka went in 1988 in the Federal Republic of Germany and joined Borussia Monchengladbach. For Borussia defender played 81 games, his only goal he scored 28 on Matchday 1988/89 in a 2-0 against Bayer Uerdingen.

After three years in the Czech Mönchengladbach moved in summer 1991 to Hansa Rostock. He played the 1991/92 season 34 games, but without scoring a goal.

Then Straka has been committed by the then second division side SV Wuppertal, with which he took the 1994 transition to the Regionalliga. In 1996, the then 38 -year-old already Straka for SCB Prussia Cologne in the Oberliga Nordrhein. The team got down, according to the Association League season 1997/ 98, in Prussia Cologne managed to rise again, Straka ended his career.

National

From 1983 to 1990 played Straka 35 times for the Czechoslovakian national team. He participated in the 1990 World Cup.

Coaching career

Straka first as a coach was from July 1999 to November 2001 the Wuppertal SV. In the season 1999/ 00 the Czech led the team to the championship while in the Oberliga Nordrhein, the rise but the team was denied. In the season 00/ 01 WSV was second behind the tied amateurs from Bayer Leverkusen.

In summer 2002, Straka returned to the Czech Republic and took over the post of assistant coach at FK Teplice. After just one win from five games early September 2002, head coach František Straka Cipro was released and took over the team. He led from the penultimate 15th to sixth place.

Beginning of April 2004 Straka was obliged Sparta Prague as the successor to the dismissed Jiří Kotrba. He led the team with six wins in seven games from fourth to second place yet. Although he led Sparta in the 2004/05 season by nine points to fall championship, he was nevertheless dismissed. This was due to the poor performance in the Champions League. Sparta had taken only one point in the group stage.

In March 2005, Straka signed at the then second division LR Ahlen. In the season 2004/ 05 the former Czechoslovakian national team saved the team from relegation to the Regionalliga. He resigned after the team could not win a victory the following season 2005/ 06 until 25 October 2005.

In April 2006 he was brought from Viktoria Plzen to save the relegation-threatened team before the fall in the second league. This project was achieved with a sensational 3-1 win on the last game against his former club Sparta Prague. Despite the successful mission Straka did not renew his contract and moved to FC Wacker Tirol.

In Innsbruck Straka started successfully. Meanwhile, the FC Wacker had even been on the second place. In the second half, however, was the total drop in performance Straka had the club after twelve games without a win left.

End of August 2007 replaced Straka at SK Dynamo České Budějovice the dismissed František Cipro. The team finished the 2007/08 season without relegation worries in 13th place

In the 2008 /09 season Straka trained from July to November the Greek club OFI Crete.

Of 12 May 2009 to 30 June 2009 as the successor to Petr Straka trained Rada the Czech national team. Rada had in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup have to take his hat after the weak performances of his team on April 8, 2009. In Straka tenure Czech Republic played only one game that the team won 1-0 against Malta. However, the expiring on 30 June 2009 contract did not extend the new association management.

In September 2009, Straka went to the coach of the Slovakian first division club MFK Ružomberok, for the 2010/11 season, he took over as coach for the Australian A- League club North Queensland Fury.
