Geography

The region lies on the east coast of the state about 220 km north of the capital, Brisbane.

Administrative headquarters of the LGA is Maryborough with about 25 700 inhabitants. History

Today's Fraser Coast Region was founded in 2008 from the merger of Hervey Bay City, Maryborough City, the Woocoo Shire and the North of Tiaro Shire.

Management

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has eleven members. The Mayor ( Mayor ) and ten other Councillor to be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
