Frederick Antwon Taylor ( born January 27, 1976 in Pahokee, Florida) is an American professional American football player. He currently plays running back for the New England Patriots in the NFL.

College

Fred Taylor attended the University of Florida from 1994-1997 and won with his team the 1996 NCAA National Championship. During his college years he was considered one of the best young running backs in the country.

Professional time

Taylor was selected as the ninth player in the NFL Draft in 1998 by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first season he reached with 1223 yards and 17 touchdowns the best statistics of all rookie running backs this season and became the star. Earlier in his career he was often plagued by injuries, but established himself as one of the best running backs in the league. Taylor is the most successful running back in the history of the Jacksonville Jaguars and currently holds over 30 club records. In November 2007, it reached more than 10,000 career yards erlaufene than 21 running back in history. In the eternal rankings he is with 4.7 yards per attempt in third place, with 85.5 yards per game to find in sixth place. Since the 2006 he moved to the running back position with Maurice Jones - Drew from, and together they formed one of the best duos in the league. For the 2009 season he moved to the New England Patriots.

Honors

Fred Taylor has long been regarded as the best running back who was never elected to the Pro Bowl. As recently as 2007, in his tenth year in the NFL, he has achieved that honor. He was as a replacement for the injured Willie Parker re-nominated for the Pro Bowl in February 2008.
