Frederikssund

Frederikssund is a Danish town and railway settlement and administrative center of the municipality Frederikssund. It lies at the Roskilde Fjord in the Midwestern Nordsjælland Peninsula on the island of Zealand and belongs to the parish (Danish: Sogn ) Frederikssund Sogn in the Capital Region.

The town was founded around 1652 and after the then King Frederick III. (Danish Frederiksberg ) named. Around 1810 Frederikssund received its town charter.

Attractions

Worth seeing is the JF- Willumsen Museum with the works of the painter and sculptor Jens Ferdinand Willumsen.

Traffic

About the Roskilde Fjord, the two-lane bascule bridge Kronprins Frederiks Bro runs from 1935, combines the Frederikssund with the Hornsherred Peninsula. Because of their high utilization of the construction of a new connection above or below the fjord is discussed.
