Friedrich Gottlob Hayne

Friedrich Gottlob Hayne ( born March 18, 1763 in Jiiterbog, † April 28, 1832 in Berlin) was a German botanist, pharmacist and professor. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Hayne ".

Hayne showed at an early age interest in the plant world. From 1778 to 1796 he worked as a pharmacist in Berlin; he was known to the botanist Carl Ludwig Willdenow about the same age, who also was at times pharmacists in Berlin. From 1797 he completed for the factories department of the Prussian government, " botanical and technical jobs ."

From 1801 to 1808 he worked in Nice (Elbe ); here he was an assistant in the " Royal Prussian Chemical Fabrique " ( Hermania today ), which was founded in 1793 by pharmacist Carl Hermann Samuel as the first German chemical factory at all. During his time in Schönebeck he examined structure and ingredients of plants and flora in the area.

The Peace of Tilsit in 1807 the Kingdom of Prussia lost about half of its territory, including all areas west of the Elbe. This Hayne felt compelled to return to Berlin in 1808. From 1811 he taught at the University of Berlin as " public teacher of Botany "; In 1814 he was appointed extraordinary professor. After many years of teaching, he was only in 1828 full professor of pharmaceutical botany. In addition to the lecture operation he conducted numerous botanical excursions. He was also known for the consistency with which he use the correct technical terms ( " terminated botanici " ) interspersed with descriptions of plants.
