Frise (department)

Département de la Frise ( German and Dutch: Friesland, West Frisian: Fryslân ) is a former French Territory, which existed from 1810 to 1814.

History

The Dutch province of Friesland was in the establishment of the Batavian Republic in 1795, divided into the departments of Ems and IJssel. After a revolt took place in 1801, the redemption of such zoning and Friesland was reunited. With the annexation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in which the Batavian Republic in 1806 had been converted, Friesland in 1810 came as a Département de la Frise to France.

After the defeat of Napoleon in 1814 Friesland province in the newly created United Kingdom of the Netherlands.
