Garfield Darien
Garfield Darien ( born December 22, 1987 in Lyon ) is a French hurdler who specializes in the 110- meter hurdles. His father Daniel Darien, who trains him, was also a successful hurdler. Garfield Darien is 1,87 m tall and has a competition weight of 76 kg. He starts for the EA Chambery.
Career
International Darien made her first appearance, when he finished seventh in the 110- meter hurdles in Grosseto at the age of 17 years at the IAAF World Junior Championships in 2004. The following year he secured the gold medal at the European Junior Championships in Kaunas.
After it was quiet in the next two years to those regarded as injury-prone Darien, he enlisted in 2008 with the title winning the 110-meter hurdles at the French Junior Championships. In 2009 he was nominated junior champion in the 60 - meter hurdles in the hall and for the European Indoor Championships in Turin. There he came to sixth place. In the 110- meter hurdles the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 he reached the semi-final round. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha in 2010, he retired over 60 meters hurdles in the flow.
The international breakthrough came in Darien at the European Athletics Championships 2010 in Barcelona. In the finals of the 110- meter hurdles race he improved his personal best to 13.34 s and so won the silver medal behind Britain's Andrew Turner ( 13.28 s ) and before the Hungarian Dániel Kiss ( 13.39 s ). The following month, he twice succeeded in setting his best performance. Another silver medal he secured with 7.56 s in the 60 - meter hurdles at the Indoor Athletics Championships 2011 in Paris behind the Czech Petr Svoboda (7.49 s ) and before the Belgian Adrien Deghelt (7.57 s ). Participation in the World Championships in Daegu, he missed due to injury.
At the European Championships in 2012 Darien scored with a personal best 13.15 s over 110 meters hurdles. In the final he was second in 13.20 s behind the Russians Sergei Schubenkow ( 13.16 s ) and won with it like two years ago in Barcelona again the silver medal. After it had 2013 mononucleosis incapacitated, he started 2014 with a strong performance over 60 -meter hurdles in the season and qualified for participation in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot. Add a personal best of 7.47 s, he won there behind the Americans Omo Osaghae (7.45 s ) and his compatriot Pascal Martinot - Lagarde ( 7.46 s ) the bronze medal.
