Gary Collins (actor)

Gary Ennis Collins ( born April 30, 1938 in Los Angeles, California, † 13 October 2012 in Biloxi, Mississippi ) was an American actor and television presenter.

Life

Collins was born in 1938 in Venice (Los Angeles ), grew up in Southern California and attended Santa Monica City College. He then completed his military service for two years in the United States Army, where he his interest for acting discovered at the American Forces Network. His acting debut was in published in 1962 and directed by Melville Shavelson film comedy It began in Rome on the side of Charlton Heston and Elsa Martinelli as Major Wolff. Later he was able to get three long series commitment. He played Lt.. Richard P. ' Rip' Ripley in 29 episodes of the TV series The Wackiest Ship in the Army, Dave Tarrant in 43 episodes of Iron Horse and Dr. Michael Rhodes in 26 episodes of the TV series The Sixth Sense.

In addition to his acting moderated Collins since the early 1980s, several television shows, including Hour Magazine, The New Hollywood Squares and The Home Show. For his moderation in Hour Magazine, he was nominated from 1982 to 1987 six times in a row for a Daytime Emmy Award, where he could win this 1984. Collins was married October 3, 1964 to August 3, 1967 Susan Peterson Lachman. The couple had two children together. Since 24 November 1967 he was with the Miss America of 1959, Mary Ann Mobley, married. The couple had a child together.
