Gary Walker (musician)

Gary Walker ( Gary Leeds actually; born March 9, 1942 in Glendale, California) is an American musician who primarily as a drummer for the Walker Brothers had success.

Life

Gary Walker started his career with 14 years drummer in a school band. His first group was called The Beltones, with which he could make himself a name as a drummer in the music scene of Los Angeles. He appeared since then in the line-ups of various bands, including amderem at the Standells whose founding in 1962. Shortly before their first LP release at Liberty Records but he was replaced by Dick Dodd of the Mousketeers. Virtually unknown reached the Walker Brothers in the winter of 1964 the kingdom and came the following year in England to world glory. At the height of her career, Gary released two singles under his own name for CBS Records, both of which came on the 26th place in the British charts. After three major UK tours in 1966 and 1967, the band indicated its separation to propel the solo careers.

In the fall of 1967 the drummer founded with the singer, guitarist and pianist Paul "Charlie" Crane, bassist John Lawson and the singer and lead guitarist Joey Molland, the band Gary Walker and The Rain. The debut single in 1968 was a cover of Classics IV's Spooky. The publication was. By a joint tour with the Kinks, the stove and the Tremeloes During the subsequent tour of Japan Album Gary Walker & The Rain Album No. 1 was published, from which an EP and two singles were released. With Japanese support band The Carnabeats Gary then took on the song Cutie Morning Moon to the Scott Walker contributed lyrics. Before 1969, the band parted again, arrived in England with Come In You'll Get Pneumonia yet figured out a cover of the Easybeats. Only in 1975, Gary was invited as part of a reunion of the Walker Brothers with the album No Regrets back to England.
