Gazmend Oketa

Gazmend Nuri Oketa ( born December 14, 1968 in Durres ) is an Albanian politician from the New Democratic Wind ( FRD ) and Secretary General of the party.

Career

Between 22 March 2008 and 17 September 2009, he was Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of Albania Berisha I. He succeeded Fatmir Mediu, who had given after the ammunition explosions of Gerdec announced his retirement, however, already had a year later at his post Arben Imami leave, formed the new government as Prime Minister Sali Berisha after the parliamentary elections in June 2009.

Oketa studied at the Polytechnic University of Tirana in civil engineering. At the University of Siegen, he completed a Nachdiplomlehrgang.

Gazmend Oketa was chosen as the candidate of the Democratic Party of Albania (PD ) in 2003 in the City Council of Durres. Between 2004 and 2012 he was Vice - President of the PD in the section Durres. Oketa was a member of the PD in the Albanian parliament.

In April 2012 he founded the New Democratic wind, the former President Bamir Topi later joined with other party colleagues from the PD. Oketa was in November 2012 Secretary General, Topi party chairman.
