Gene Polito

Gene Polito (actually Eugene Emmanuel Polito, * September 13, 1918 in Brooklyn, † November 28, 2010 in Irvine, California ) was an American cinematographer.

Life

Polito was the son of the cameraman Sol Polito, who worked for Warner Brothers and grew up on the West Coast of the United States. He attended Loyola High School in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in engineering; in this career, he also worked during the war for Douglas Aircraft.

Long after the Second World War, in 1959, he entered his father's footsteps and worked from there forty years as a cameraman for film productions and especially for television; He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. In 1980 he became a professor at the School of Cinematic Arts at his university. In the seventieth year he finished this last professional job.
