Geoff Barrowcliffe

Geoffrey " Geoff " Barrow Cliffe (born 18 October 1931 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, † September 26, 2009 ) was an English footballer. The defender was mostly for Derby County in the First Division active.

Career

Barrow Cliffe began his career at Ilkeston Town in his hometown. In October 1950, he left the club and went to Derby County to play there as a part-time professional. In September 1951, he debuted at the league game against Stoke City in the Premier League. In 1953 he went to the club from the First Division, from two years later from the Second Division. With the " Rams" but he managed in 1957 as Master of the North Season of the Third Division to return to the second division. Until 1966 he ran in 15 seasons for the club. In total he played 503 games for the club, of which 475 league games. He is only one of seven players to 2009, who denied more than 500 games for the club. 1966 joined Barrow Cliffe football in the Non -League. The first stop was Boston United, where he scored 11 goals in one season in 41 games. Then he played for Heanor Town, Moor Green Colliery, Kimberley Town and Long Eaton United. As a coach he worked for Kimberley Town and the Radford FC.

Even as a 60 -year-old played for Barrow Cliffe Alt men's team Derby County. Later he suffered from Alzheimer 's disease.
