Georg Ossian Sars

Georg Ossian Sars ( born April 20, 1837 in Floro, Norway, † April 9, 1927 in Oslo, Norway) was a Norwegian marine biologist.

Like his father, Michael Sars he was especially taxonomist and described numerous new species of floating shrimp, ostracods and other marine animals. In addition, he completed numerous zoological work of his father.

One of his six brothers was the historian Ernst Sars ( 1835-1917 ).

In 1910 he was awarded the Linnean Society of London, Linnean Medal.
