George Baird Hodge

George Baird Hodge ( born April 8, 1828 in Fleming County, Kentucky; † August 1, 1892 in Longwood, Orange County, Florida) was an American politician in the 19th century. Furthermore, he was the son of John Wooleston Tibbatts.

Hodge ran unsuccessfully in 1853 for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, but in 1859 a member of the State Legislature of Kentucky. After the secession of his home state he represented in this first Provisional and later in the 1st Konföderiertenkongress. During the Civil War he served as a general in the Confederate army. In 1873 he was elected to the Senate from Kentucky, where he remained until 1877.

George Baird Hodge died in Longwood, was first buried in Seminole County, Florida, but then transferred in 1903 to the Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, Kentucky.
