The George Bush Intercontinental Airport is located near Houston in the U.S. state of Texas and is the largest of the three airports near the city. It is home to the airport and the largest hub of United Airlines. George Bush Intercontinental was in 2010 with about 40 million passenger figures of the United States seventh largest airport, the world he is number 21

The airport was opened in 1969 as the Houston Intercontinental Airport. Its construction was decided, as the then commercial airport in the city, the William P. Hobby Airport, could not continue to grow. It received its name in honor of former U.S. president George Bush in 1997.

Equipment

The airport has five terminals are designated with the letters A to E. The terminals B, C and E are used exclusively by United Airlines. The remaining North American Airlines Terminal A share, the international airlines terminal D. immigration controls on international flights take place centrally in Terminal E.

There are five runways, three of which run parallel in an east-west direction. They can be operated simultaneously and allow in a westerly direction, thanks to special instrument landing systems also operate at very poor visibility.
