Cahill was married in 1949 to Sarah ( "Sally" ) duPont († 2010), the couple had four daughters and two sons.

Work

At Cahill's research was part of the glucose metabolism of man, the role of insulin, diabetes mellitus, the influence of starvation and fasting on metabolic pathways and ketosis.

He was the author and co - author of about 200 papers in scientific journals and is the author of various books.

1982 and 1985 Cahill said of the two trials of Claus von Bulow, who was charged with attempted murder of his wife Sunny von Bülow. Cahill attested in both processes, that the condition of the woman can be attributed only to a dose of insulin.
