George Fuller (congressman)

George Fuller ( born November 7, 1802 in Norwich, Connecticut, † November 24, 1888 in Scranton, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. In the years 1844 and 1845 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Fuller attended the public schools of his home. He later moved to Montrose in Pennsylvania, where he worked in the trade. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. After the death of Mr Almon Heath Read Fuller was at the due election as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on December 2, 1844. Until March 3, 1845, he could end the current parliamentary term in Congress. At that time was a heated debate about a possible annexation since 1836 the independent Republic of Mexico Texas. This debate led then to the Mexican-American War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, George Fuller operated in the newspaper industry. In Montrose, he published three papers. He also became eunuchs in Susquehanna County. Politically, he spent his last 25 years of life to the Republican Party. He died on November 24, 1888 in Scranton.
