George Kinzie Fitzsimons

George Kinzie Fitzsimons ( born September 4, 1928 in Kansas City, † July 28, 2013 in Ogden, Kansas) was Bishop of Salina.

Life

George Kinzie Fitzsimons was from 1948 to 1950 worked for the City National Bank. From 1950 to 1954 he was a pilot in the U.S. Navy. 1956 entered the Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri, and studied philosophy and Catholic theology. The Bishop of Kansas City -Saint Joseph, John Patrick Cody, consecrated him on 18 March 1961 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City priest. In 1970 he became Deputy Chancellor of the Diocese, Vicar General in 1974.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 20 May 1975 Auxiliary Bishop of Kansas City -Saint Joseph and Titular Bishop of Pertusa. The Bishop of Kansas City -Saint Joseph Charles Herman helmet Sing consecrated him on 3 July of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were William Wakefield tree, Archbishop of Washington, and Joseph Vincent Sullivan, Bishop of Baton Rouge. From 1978 he was also pastor of Christ the King Parish in Kansas City.

On March 28, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Salina; May 29, 1984 he was introduced to the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina in the office. On 21 October 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
